Terror on Isis 9 by Gillian, Mary, Ruth, Anu, and Ellen

I crawled from the wreckage of my ruined spaceship onto the dusty, rock-covered surface of Isis 9. One small step for man, I thought, but no one was watching me back on Earth. No one knew about our secret mission to terraform this rock of a planetoid into humankind’s last lifeboat. Only a handful of us knew how short our time left on Earth really was.
Our sun was going to go supernova in 5 years. Goodbye Angry Birds. Goodbye Mcdonald’s cheeseburgers. Goodbye Dora the Explorer. Goodbye polar bears and bumblebees and bluebreast darters. Goodbye 7 billion people. Our time is up.
My team was sent to start the planting process on this M-Class planet but something went wrong during our descent. I don’t know if it was sabotage or plain old incompetence that caused the crash. Lucky for me, there was enough water and air here to keep me alive, but we hadn’t had time to fully scan Isis 9 for life forms and with my communicator damaged in the crash and my co-pilot and engineer DOA, it looked like no one would be coming to get me for a long, long time.
Just then, something startled me out of my sad-sack stupor. I didn’t know what it was but it was big and fast and it was waiting for me on the other side of the wreckage. I looked for a weapon, but all I could find was a good-sized rock.
I picked it up and crept toward the thing.
Almost immediately behind the dark shadowed figure, I lifted the rock above my head, but the thing sensed my presence and swiftly turned toward me staring me in the eyes. Frozen and bewildered by its appearance, I swung with all my might, right at its temple. Green blood oozed everywhere. A few drops landed on my arm and burned. It fell to the ground, writhing in pain.
I laid motionless while my skin started peeling off of my arm. I cried for help, but it was no use because there was nobody for miles. I was helpless. I thought the whole world was spinning around me. I knocked out for a good four hours, and I had dreams of seeing the light. My family was waiting up there for me, and I was reaching my hand out for them. But then I woke up suddenly to a small creature licking my feet. It was really slimy and it was a dark blue color! I couldn’t see its eyes. Then I felt dizzy again and I passed out.
